It depends on why your hair was thinning.

If the underlying trigger is still active (for example genetics, hormones, or chronic inflammation), stopping any treatment may allow shedding to return.

If the trigger has already resolved (postpartum recovery, stress, nutrient deficiency), many users maintain their results even when they pause.

Alpha Serum does not create artificial “dependency.” It simply supports your follicles.

If your hair loss is driven by DHT sensitivity, you may benefit from light maintenance. Usually 2 to 3 times per week to keep the follicles supported.

Whether you need long-term maintenance comes down to your scalp biology, not the serum.

How long a 50ml lasts depends on how often you apply it and how much of the scalp you cover. Once daily on a part line or a crown, it runs most people two to three months. Twice daily, or across most of the scalp, closer to one or two. The 25ml covers roughly half that, and the 2x50ml roughly double.

Alpha Serum is concentrated, so 1-2 sprays per area is usually enough. Massage it in, let it absorb, and yes, you can use it on second-day hair.

That is what the 50ml subscription intervals are built around: every two months for once daily, monthly for twice daily or for covering most of the scalp, every three months for every other day or a single area. You can change the interval any time from your account.

Different signals arrive at different times. Counted from your first application, here is the order they usually come in.

Weeks 1-4. The scalp settles first: less dry, less itchy, less flaking. Shedding is usually the first thing to move, and for some people it briefly increases before it eases.

Weeks 4-8. New baby hairs at the hairline or part line. They are fine and short, so they photograph better than they show in the mirror.

Weeks 8-12. A tighter part line, more in the ponytail. The part line changes before anywhere else because thinning is most measurable there. Roughly one 50ml bottle in.

Months 3-6. Overall density across the scalp, which is the slowest of the signals and for a reason: a follicle that was resting the week you started has to finish resting before it grows at all, so for some hairs the first countable growth falls past month four.

Months 6-12. For androgenic alopecia, this is usually where coverage changes most. Hairs that had been getting finer are thicker, and the part line holds.

Your timeline depends on the underlying cause, your hair cycle, and how consistently you apply it. Many of our customers report meaningful change within one bottle or less.

Androgenic alopecia happens when follicles become sensitive to DHT, leading to thinning, miniaturisation, and reduced density over time. Alpha Serum targets this through multiple pathways at once, including:

- DHT-modulating botanicals and peptides
- Anti-inflammatory support
- Stem cell activation through patented actives
- Improved follicle nourishment and circulation
- Antioxidant protection against oxidative stress

- Stage of miniaturisation
- How long follicles have been dormant
- Overall scalp health
- Consistency of use
- Whether inflammation or lifestyle factors are also involved

Alpha Serum cannot revive follicles that are fully closed or scarred, but it can help strengthen active ones, prolong anagen, and improve density and thickness where follicles are still alive.

For AGA, you may benefit from long-term maintenance, around 2 to 3 times weekly, to help keep results stable.

Alpha Serum is generally well tolerated, even for sensitive scalps, but everyone’s skin biology is different.

Most users experience no side effects at all. A smaller group may notice temporary responses such as:

- Mild shedding in the first few weeks. This can happen when dormant follicles begin a reset phase. It usually stabilises quickly.
- Mild redness or warmth. Often due to increased circulation. This is usually short-lived.
- Mild dryness or flakiness. This can happen if the scalp is dehydrated or if someone is using a strong anti-dandruff shampoo at the same time.

These effects are not harmful and typically improve as your scalp adjusts.

If you have active scalp conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, or seborrheic dermatitis, we recommend starting slowly and observing how your skin responds.

Worth knowing what that means, because most brands blur it: cosmetics are not approved by any government, here or anywhere else. Notification is a declaration the company files, and the responsibility for safety and quality stays with us. NPRA can refuse a notification, cancel one, and test products already on shelves but no agency tests whether a cosmetic works. Ours is manufactured in Malaysia in a facility following GMP standards.
